Painted during my first year at university, this work channels the anxiety of navigating a changing body and identity through rapid, heavy brushstrokes. To sustain a high volume of experimental work on a limited budget, traditional mediums were replaced with industrial Fester Bond and cheap bottled pigments. This resourcefulness turns a material constraint into a powerful study of gesture, color, and personal vulnerability.

This work reflects an intimate exploration of the transition into adulthood, where I’ve been pushing boundaries with myself. Conceived as a threshold that demands to be crossed. "Crossings" serves as an intimate exploration of the transition into adulthood, a threshold that inevitably demanded to be crossed. Initially, this work materialized a personal journey of shedding the armor I had built, utilizing transparency in clothing as a central metaphor for vulnerability and the conscious pushing of my own boundaries.
However, revisiting this piece after a couple of years introduces a profound shift in perspective. The person staring back from the work is undeniably different. With the clarity of hindsight, the unwavering confidence I once projected now reveals itself as staged. I can only wonder about the memory of my self I am becoming right now.

I am a painter and installation designer transitioning into theatrical scenography.
