The Workshops

Student filmmakers from both Lancaster University and Sunway University came together at Sunway University for a week of intensive filmmaking workshops, masterclasses and creative collaboration. Working in international teams, participants developed, produced and edited original short films inspired by the 2025 festival themes: Echoes, Horizons, and Vibes.

Led by experienced filmmakers, industry professionals and academics, the workshops offered students the opportunity to develop their creative practice while gaining hands-on experience in every stage of the filmmaking process. Alongside practical production sessions, participants attended masterclasses, explored new approaches to storytelling and built lasting international friendships through collaboration.

Hosted in Sunway University's professional film studios and editing facilities, the programme culminated in the premiere of the students' films during the Art Beats Festival: GenWaves on 2–3 August 2025, celebrating a week of creativity, cultural exchange and shared cinematic experiences.
