Glitching the Manosphere

Glitching the Manosphere (2026) explores how  how gender-based conflicts and ideologies circulating online impact how young people navigate their identity. Juxtaposing found footage of content creators and manosphere influencers with anonymous interviews with young people, this piece examines how digital spaces both represent and intensify gender-based tensions. Drawing on Glitch Feminism, I use datamoshing and technological distortion as both an artistic and political strategy to reveal flaws within these oppressive ideological systems. The glitch becomes a form of resistance to expose their instability, disrupt fixed boundaries and explore personal testimony as part of a wider systemic condition. 

This video installation is divided into two screens, reflecting the fragmented experience of navigating increasingly polarising online environments and societal divisions surrounding gender. This piece brings opposing voices into proximity through its dual-screen format, establishing a conversation between the views of manosphere influencers and the young people navigating the effects of these ideologies. Rather than allow such views to remain isolated to digital echo chambers, their simultaneous presence here places them in dialogue. Glitching the Manosphere (2026) ultimately seeks to explore the reasons behind these conflicts and create the possibility for understanding and human connection.
